The Oxley Otters
The P&C Association operates the Oxley State School Amateur Swimming Club (Oxley Otters). The Club is managed by an Executive Committee that meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 7.30 pm.
Club nights are held every Friday night during Term 4 and Term 1 the following year. The pool opens at 6.15 pm and nominations for events close at 6.45 pm, with events commencing shortly after.
Four strokes are contested each club night over distances of 15m, 25m and 50m. The stroke order changes each week. Swimmers may only compete in one distance per stroke each club night.
Swimmers compete against his or her own best time for points and accumulate points based on their performances in each event compared to their best times. At the end of the season, the top 60 point scorers are awarded trophies.
For further information, please contact Graham Borgges on (07) 3379 6763 after 1.00 pm on weekdays. The club also has a Facebook page. Search for 'Oxley Swimming Club'.
The Club Championships are held at the end of Term 1. Swimmers may nominate to swim in as many strokes as they are eligible. The swimmer with the highest aggregate points in their age group over all four strokes will be named Club Age Champion. The presentation of Championship trophies and awards for the year takes place at the completion of Championship events.
Three way carnivals are held to allow Oxley club swimmers the opportunity to compete as a team away from Club nights. The carnivals are held against other state schools and are a good introduction to carnivals for new or younger swimmers.
